At Thrive Foundation for Youth we are passionate about helping young people
thrive. Our goals are to look at the nature of thriving: what's worth
strengthening in youth, what tools are available to track and support
conditions of thriving, and who's out there for young people. Our ultimate goal
is this: that more youth live up to their potential and move on track towards
a hopeful future.
We are mindful that any change process is a point of leverage, and that inherent
in the change process is a spirit of optimism. We are attracted to audacious
people and ideas that catalyze change, and we value a systemic view of the world
and human beings. In our rigorous striving for excellence, we partner with
researchers and nonprofit leaders who are committed to the ever-evolving links
between research and practice that measurably enhance positive life trajectories
of youth.
Our framework for investment fits within the growing field of
venture philanthropy.
We believe that progress happens in quantum leaps through fermenting brews of
expertise, creativity and tenacity in the context of high-engagement relationships
and support for multi-year plans. In our venture philanthropy process, we recognize
the valuable role of convener, and we focus resources as a spotlight on barriers or
opportunities in the field of Thriving. We bring together multiple perspectives,
and we offer a blend of cash, tools and expertise to our research and nonprofit
partners.

Thrive Foundation is proud to support new research from Search Institute, a leading think-tank on positive youth development. Parenting a teenager today isn't easy. Search Institute President, Peter Benson, offers parents and caring adults a focused way to help teenagers succeed, discover and nurture their SPARKS. Sparks are the hidden flames in youth that excite them and tap their true passions. This self-identified interest, skill or capacity energizes youth along a path to thriving that requires adult support.
