Robert “Bob” King is a business and philanthropic entrepreneur. He is the founder and former President of R. Eliot King & Associates, Inc., an investment management company. Bob is an active venture investor in U.S. and international companies through his firm, Peninsula Capital. Together with his wife Dottie, he launched Thrive Foundation for Youth and the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (known as SEED). The Institute’s aim is to stimulate research and innovations to alleviate poverty in developing economies.
In addition to his active role in Thrive Foundation for Youth, Bob is a past active Elder of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church. For many years, he also served on the Board of Village Enterprise Fund, an organization established to help create micro enterprises in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Bob is a former trustee of the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust.
Bob earned a BA in Economics at Dartmouth College and an MBA at Stanford University. Bob and his wife, Dottie, spend time in Menlo Park, California and Kennebunkport, Maine. They enjoy spending time with their three children and eight grandchildren.
