Jennifer King

For thirteen years, Jennifer King was told she would never have children. Ten years ago, she and her husband, Timothy Fredel were blessed with their first of two miracle babies. When Jennifer was pregnant her doctor called her "euphoric." That's how she feels about being a mother to her daughters, Jessica and Nicole.

Every day, Jennifer strives to find balance raising her two young "thrivers." An entrepreneur and digital pioneer, Jennifer founded BioSpace, Inc. after graduating in 1985 with a degree in business management from Simmons College in Boston. From 1985-2000 she was CEO of the Company which is best known for having created the global hub site for life sciences.

Today, she is focused on building a new media enterprise called Rugged Elegance. This lifestyle-centric venture has led Jennifer and her partner/husband to develop a series of high-end travel guides which promote "rugged elegant" hotels, restaurants, shops and services. In addition, they have created two online publications called The Rugged Elegance Inspiration Network and RE: Change. Inspiring healthy, adventuresome, soulful, and wise living is the mission of the network. Where RuggedElegance.com profiles that which Jennifer and Tim deem "rugged elegant," Rugged Elegant Living is where the story behind these selected people, places, products, performances, prose and photographs get told. The Rugged Elegance Change Mariner, tied to "wise" living, focuses on economic, political, social and technological world change.

Jennifer is happiest "thriving" outdoors. A natural-born adventurer, she enjoys finding unique, soulful places to take her children and friends. Jennifer and her family split their time living in San Francisco, California, Kennebunkport, Maine and on the road - exploring "rugged elegant" destinations of the world.
