Jennifer King
For thirteen years, Jennifer King was told she would never have children. In 1995, she and her husband, Timothy Fredel were blessed with their first of two miracle babies. When Jennifer was pregnant her doctor called her "euphoric." That's how she feels about being a mother to her daughters, Jessica and Nicole. Every day, Jennifer strives to find balance raising her two passionate "thrivers."
Jennifer studied psychology and German at the University of Colorado, Boulder from 1978-1981. In 1985, she graduated with a degree in business management from Simmons College in Boston.
An entrepreneur and digital pioneer, Jennifer founded her first company in 1985, which became BioSpace. The hub site for the life sciences was one of the first 50,000 web sites in the world. From 1985-2000, Jennifer served as ceo. While she is no longer involved in the day-to-day operations, Jennifer still gets thanked by people in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry who start their day with BioSpace News or who got their job via the BioSpace Career Center.
In March 2000, Jennifer shifted her focus from promoting life sciences to life. Over the past decade, she and her partner, Timothy Fredel have created The Thrive House for Youth, the Kudos Trading Co. and an invitation-only soulful network called Rugged Elegance.
Today, Jennifer is in search of the most "rugged elegant" people in the world ~ people who aspire to lead healthy, adventuresome, soulful lives. All members of the RE Jeanpool are passionate about giving philanthropically via their time, money, expertise and/or resources.
The Rugged Elegance adventure Lifestyle Network, while private, can be seen, in-part, by the world at www.RuggedElegance.com and Rugged Elegance Radio. RuggedElegance.com promotes select people, pursuits, products, passions and philanthropies.
Kudos Trading Co., the thank you engine for the Internet, delivers beautifully composed social accolades. In the moment. Online.
The Thrive House is a beautiful safe haven in San Francisco's Western Addition where at-risk and privileged youth come to find their spark in life.
Jennifer is happiest "thriving" outdoors. A natural-born adventurer, she enjoys finding unique, soulful places to take her children and friends. Jennifer and her family split their time living in San Francisco, California, Kennebunkport, Maine and on the road - exploring "rugged elegant" destinations of the world.
